![]() all who shared this enjoyed it, and the booze is real well hidden here. i hope to try more beers from these guys before too long. a straightforward take on the style, but a well thought out and executed one. i like the depth this has without being bitter roasted, and i like the smoothness of the feel, the oats really contribute a lot here. some nuances of raisin and rum, slight oxidation, and a pinch of brown sugar. the beer is deep brown and not insanely viscous for its strength, somewhat lighter version of the style then, and not so intense on the roasted grain either, i get espresso grinds and cocoa, but nothing black or charred or anything. i like how much the oats can be appreciated here, and not just by the creamy texture, but also in the flavor, where there is a unique earthy, dry, grainy element to offset the roast, just a tiny bit of sweetness to it, really balanced and fairly full spectrum in terms of grain in this, a really nice build. Overall – A tasty stout with a nice dark flavor and a good oaty and malty backbone. The feel is fantastic for the oat and dark tastes and makes for a fantastic slow sipper. Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is thick and chewy with a low carbonation level. The roastiness throughout the process gets a bit stronger and with a little bit of a char one is left with a nice dark and oaty sweetened oatmeal taste to linger on the tongue. The sweeter flavors initially increase on the tongue, only later to fade some at the very end of the taste. Along with the roast is a rather decently big oaty taste with this developing more and more as the taste advances.
